Westport
Community Market and Boot Fair has finally become reality. After several months of
negotiations, the green light was given for the project to go
ahead, and the inaugural event happened on Sunday April 1st, 2012.
It is destined to become, not only a major attraction for Westport town, but also a significant community asset. The venture has the full
support of the site owner/developers, P. Connolly Holdings, Westport Town
Council, plus local retailers and other businesses.
The venue is the prestigious Westpoint Shopping Centre, conveniently located just outside of the town centre, and opposite the train station. The Market will occupy part of the upper (ground level) car park when the weather is fine, or can move to the lower, undercover car park if rain is forecasted. This maintains continuity, a significant factor compared to similar markets in Ireland.
Opening time for the public is 9am - 6pm

The
Westpoint Centre already attracts many hundreds of shoppers daily, as
it is home to Tesco, Boots Chemist, Carphone Warehouse and other
retailers. The new Monthly Market will be a cross-over attraction.
Pre-event advertising is extensive - posters and signboards, plus newspaper and local radio coverage. Ongoing will be this website where regular traders will have the opportunity to be listed or to advertise.
As
the name indicates, the market is Community based, and money raised
will go towards supporting and funding worthy local groups, charities and projects.

TRADER INFORMATION
NOTE
The lower ground level has a 2 metre height restriction. This means standard vehicles have no problem, but high-top vans cannot enter.
Stall set up will commence from 7.30 am. Marshals will be in attendance.
There are roadways through the car parks. These must be kept clear at all times to enable residents to come and go, visitor parking, and to allow traders to leave if they wish to pack up before the 6pm finishing time.
Stallholder fee, payable on entrance is €10 for a car or small van and €20 for a Transit-sized van or similar.
Stallholders will be expected to trade responsibly. Rubbish bags will be provided so that any litter can be taken away.
NOTE
Dogs MUST be kept on a lead or put inside vehicles.
